The clocks have turned back, mornings feel crispier and playgrounds are filling with colourful fallen leaves. As temperatures drop, staying warm isn’t just about comfort — it’s about keeping energy up, focus sharp and those seasonal sniffles at bay.
Here’s how to keep them warm, polished, and ready to learn.
With our winter school uniform collection, children can stay comfortable and stylish all season. This year, we’re leaning into smart layering, durable fabrics, and cosy finishing touches — all designed to meet uniform standards without ever holding kids back.
Let’s Build Your School Uniform Winter Wardrobe
The secret to staying warm at school is smart layering. Think: light, breathable layers that trap warmth, rather than thick bulk that restricts movement. Kids are active — learning, running, exploring — and their clothing needs to keep up.
Here are our recommendations, layer by layer.
Base Layer
Light, soft cotton or thermal tops that feel gentle on skin and help regulate body temperature. A good base layer prevents chills without making children feel restricted.
Most of our partner schools’ uniform includes long-sleeve polos and t-shirts, alongside short-sleeve versions, giving an extra layer of comfort for children who feel the cold more. A simple switch that makes a big difference.
To complete the base layer, we also offer tights in a variety of colours and sizes, available in cotton-rich blends for comfort and durability.
✦ Best for: everyday warmth under any uniform, for children who feel the cold more than others.

Mid Layer
A warm but streamlined layer — like a knit, fleece or soft sweatshirt — adds insulation without feeling heavy. It should fit comfortably under outerwear and still look smart indoors. This is the layer that keeps children cosy in class when the coats come off.
This year, we proudly introduce an updated take on a winter favourite: our classic pile fleece, now also available in a more tailored sciancrato fit for girls. Made from 100% high-density, anti-pilling polyester with practical zip pockets, it’s soft, durable and designed for movement — a must-have for colder school days.
Our cold winter sweaters and PE cold winter kit (sweatshirts and sweatpants) have a 97% cotton brushed interior and higher-weight fabric than our all-season styles. They deliver elevated warmth and softness while still allowing freedom to move, learn and play.
For those who prefer something lighter, our jumpers and cardigans are perfect for students who keep warm easily.
✦ Best for: cosy classroom hours once the coats come off — pick fleece or brushed-cotton for the coldest days, or a lighter knit for warmer-blooded kids.

Outer Layer
A warm, weather-ready coat to shield from wind and rain on the school run and during outdoor breaks. Choose something durable and easy to move in — and remember that playgrounds can be muddy, so practical fabrics win every time.
Together, this trio of base, mid and outer layers keeps students warm — without feeling bulky or overheating in the classroom.
✦ Best for: the school run and outdoor breaks, whatever the weather throws at it.
Accessorise for the Chill
Sometimes, it’s the small things that make the biggest difference on cold mornings. That’s where our winter accessories come in.
Hats, Scarves & Gloves
Many of our partner schools already offer their own winter hat and scarves with the school logo, made from soft acrylic for warmth and a coordinated look.
For schools without a branded option, or for families looking for extra warmth, we also provide fleece hats, scarves and gloves in a variety of matching colours and sizes. Crafted from durable anti-pill polyester fleece, they stay soft and smart all winter long — simply choose the shade that best complements your school’s uniform for a cohesive, polished appearance.
Perfect for drop-off, break time, sports sidelines, and the walk home — these pieces keep little hands, ears and necks warm where it matters most.
✦ Best for: drop-off, break time and the walk home — wherever the cold hits first.

Why it matters: warm kids learn better
When children feel warm and comfortable, they can focus — whether they’re tackling maths, practising handwriting, or racing friends around the playground. Studies show that warmth supports:
- →Focus and concentration
- →Comfort during lessons
- →Enjoyment at playtime
- →Less chance of chills and seasonal discomfort
A well-layered student is a ready-to-learn student.
