Behind every convincing scene in film or television is meticulous attention to detail. Productions designers refine lighting, sets and props – but one of the most powerful tools for authenticity is often something deceptively simple: a school uniform. Indeed, school uniforms on screen, when executed properly, can communicate era, identity, discipline, and culture without a single word of dialogue.
At LM School Uniforms, we have spent more than 20 years perfecting garments that meet the exacting standards of schools and parents. That same commitment to craftmanship, durability, and precision has made our uniforms a trusted choice in classrooms and enabled us to bring our school uniforms.Â
From feature films to international TV hits, our work has helped bring credibility and realism to productions including La Corrispondenza, Il Collegio, Il Vegetale, and Penny on M.A.R.S.. Each project brought unique creative challenges, but all shared a single objective: making school life feel authentic and believable on screen.
La Corrispondenza
When Academy Award-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore created La Corrispondenza (2016), excellence was expected in every detail. From cinematography to costume design, the film demanded precision. Consequently, being chosen to supply student wardrobes for a production of this calibre was both an honour and a recognition of our craftmanship at the highest cinematic level. the production sought only the best in every detail—from cinematography to costumes. For LM School Uniforms, being chosen to supply the student wardrobes was not only an honour but also recognition of our artistic excellence at the highest level of cinema.
Film is, by nature, an unforgiving medium. High-definition cameras capture every seam, stitch and texture. Our designers worked closely with the costume department to ensure that each uniform compleented the film’s aesthetic while reflecting realistic school attire.
The film went on to win the David Giovani Award at the David Donatello Awards and earned a Golden Globe for cinematography, milestones that confirmed its artistic excellence. Knowing that our uniforms quietly contributed to a film of such prestige remains one of our proudest achievements.
Il CollegioÂ
Our collaboration with RAI’s hit reality series Il Collegio marked a turning point for LM School Uniforms. Over five consecutive seasons, we provided historically accurate uniforms that transported participants—and millions of viewers—back into the classrooms of past decades.
Each season was set in a different era, spanning from 1960s to the 1990s. Therefore, achieving authenticity required extensive research and careful reconstruction. Our team researched archival photos, consulted educational historian, and even sourced period-specific fabrics to recreate silhouettes, textures and detailes faithful to each decade.
The series quickly became a cultural phenomenon in Italy, sparking conversations, memes, and a renewed interest in school traditions. The visibility of our uniforms on such a widely followed show reinforced our brand as the gold standard for credibility and style in education.

Il Vegetale
In 2018, we partnered with director Gennaro Nunziante on Il Vegetale, starring internet sensation Fabio Rovazzi. Unlike our historical work, this film called for contemporary school uniforms on screen that would felt instantly relatable to younger audiences.
Designing for the present day, however, presents its own challenges. Modern viewers are highly familiar with today’s student attire, so any exaggeration can break realism. Our approach centered on understated authenticity – creating garments that felt natural within everuday student life while meating the technical demands of film production.
The success of Il Vegetale—which drew strong box office numbers and connected with Italy’s youth—proved that authenticity resonates across generations. Our uniforms helped ground the story, giving credibility to the everyday student experience while letting the comedy shine.

Penny on M.A.R.S.
Our work with Disney Channel’s Penny on M.A.R.S. took LM School Uniforms onto an international stage. The series, aimed at a global teen audience, needed uniforms that were both believable as school attire and vibrant enough to match the energy of Disney storytelling.
By carefully balancing tradition with style, we created wardrobes that worked effectively on screen while resonating with viewers far beyond Italy. In addition, the show’s international reach marked a milestone for us: LM School Uniforms had officially become part of storytelling that travelled worldwide.
For our team, it was more than a design opportunity – it was a chance to showcase Italian craftmanship on a global stage.Â

Looking Ahead: The Story Continues
As our experience in film and television continues to expand, we remain open to new creative collaborations. For directors, costume designers and production teams seeking authenticity, a school uniform is never merely background wardrobe – it is a narrative instrument, that defines character, signals era and anchors a story within a recognisable cultural framework.
Moreover, the technical demands of school uniforms on screen require specialist understanding. Garments must withstand close-ups, multiple takes and long shooting days while maintaining perfect continuity across scenes. At LM School Uniforms, every garment we create is a reflection of care, precision and purpose. Whether in classrooms or on film sets, a uniform is never just clothing—it’s a symbol of identity, confidence, and pride.Â
For us, seeing our uniforms on screen is always a proud milestone. For the schools, parents and students who wear them every day, it’s a reminder that their uniform carries something extra; quality, distinction and heritage. The story continues in every classroom we serve, and in every student who wears our uniforms with quiet pride. At LM School Uniforms, we’re committed and proud to dressing the future – on and off the screen.
